Wolves and Bournemouth battle for £6m-rated Dwight Gayle

Wolves hope to land the £6-million Crystal Palace striker who is expected to be made available by Alan Pardew this summer, but face competition from promoted Bournemouth, report the Express and Star.

The 24-year-old scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for the Eagles this season, but could be available for a loan or permanent deal after failing to win over Pardew.

Heavily reported interest from Wolves may be in vain, as Gayle will prefer the Premier League football that Bournemouth can offer.

Palace splashed out £6-million to Peterborough in 2013 for his signature, and won’t want to sell the front-man cheaply, with two years still left on his contract.

His estimated £20,000-a-week wages would not be an issue for Wolves, whose top earners have either left or look set to leave this summer, with Sako, Doyle and Johnson either already departed or expected to in the coming months.

Newcastle winger Sammy Ameobi is also reportedly on Kenny Jackett’s radar as Wolves look to strengthen their squad for a promotion push next season.
