Blackburn Rovers have received no official approach for top scorer Rudy Gestede from Watford, despite reports of an imminent £5 million move.
Rovers were left bemused by the speculation following multiple reports linking the Benin international with Premier League new boys Watford, and suggested that Blackburn’s owners would demand a much higher fee than £5 million for a move to take place.
The Lancashire Telegraph also reported that Crystal Palace had a £3.5 million bid rejected in January.
Watford rejected a £10 million bid from Leicester City last summer for captain Troy Deeney, who this season has fired them into the Premier League. Blackburn may well take a leaf out of Watford’s book if they want to achieve promotion next season.
