As reported on Club Call, Ben Pringle has called time on his career at Rotherham and will bid farewell to the New York stadium and its fans. Whilst admitting that he was offered a “good” deal, the impressive midfielder admitted that it was a case of the proverbial too little and too late with the 25-year old Pringle saying he felt it was time to move on. The exciting midfielder, who was instrumental in Rotherham’s rise from League Two the Championship, with back-to-back Wembley wins, told the Press Association,
“I’d said all the way up until the last day [of the season] that I would have been willing to stay had they been willing to show they wanted me to stay.”
Pringle said that this recalcitrance on Rotherham’s part, coupled with the club’s acceptance of a bid from Millwall was indication enough that Rotherham were willing to cash in on him. Despite being a vital cog that helped the South Yorkshire side stave off relegation despite the threat of it appearing very real with a three point deduction for fielding an ineligible player in the final stages of the season just gone. With all this in mind, with all that he’d helped Rotherham achieve, Pringle said,
“I think that was for me as far as I could go.”
Ben Pringle should have little problem attracting the services of another Championship club with his ability to provide goal assists for teammates as well as his potential goal contribution to his new employers. Over the past three seasons, Pringle has the following returns: three goals and seven goal assists (2014/15), five goals and 13 goal assists (2013/14) and seven goals and nine goal assists (2012/13). It is return figures like this that will interest prospective employers with Leeds United reputedly interested in his services.
