Wolves sign Pompey’s young starlet

Wolverhampton Wanderers have made their first signing of the off-season by acquiring the services of 21 year-old Jed Wallace, fending off competition from Fulham and Ipswich among others.

Although the fee is undisclosed, the buy-out clause in Wallace’s contract he signed last summer is believed to be around £275,000.

The youngster has enjoyed a stellar season at Fratton Park, finishing top of Pompey’s scoring and assisting charts.

Scoring an impressive 17 from midfield, and contributing six assists, it is little wonder a team from higher up the footballing pyramid has signed the young talent.

Having started his career at Portsmouth, Wallace made over 125 appearances for Portsmouth since his debut back in 2012.

A permanent fixture in Paul Cook’s squad this season, Wallace was rewarded for his performances as he was named the club’s Player of the Season, as well as being included in League 2’s PFA Team of the Year.

The youngster has also been capped at England U19 level, and will be looking to work his way into the first-team squad at Molineux.
