20 year old forward Alex Jones has joined the Blues on a two year deal after impressing on trial.

The Scottish youngster bagged a goal for the U21’s and did enough to earn himself a deal at St. Andrews.

He had previously been given a one year deal by West Brom, but they did not take up the option on his contract and he was allowed to leave.

How much Jones will be involved with the squad during the season is hard to tell, but he will train with the first team squad and may take part in pre-season games, as he looks to force his way into the first team squad.

With two strikers having left the squad in Green and Zigic, it makes sense to bring in some more competition. This could mean Denny Johnstone will find chances limited again, but he has struggled to impose himself in the lower leagues so another loan spell may do him good.

Hopefully, Jones can progress and develop into a decent striker for the club.
