Two Chesterfield players released, three offered contracts

Chesterfield have announced, today, that only two players will be leaving the Proact Stadium. Others are being offered new contracts.

Striker Charlie Dawes and defender Jack Broadhead have not been offered new contracts, therefore will be departing from the Derbyshire club soon. Broadhead came through the youth system at Chesterfield and made three first team appearances altogether. Dawes, born in Chesterfield, signed from Sheffield Wednesday last season but only made one appearance, which occurred in the Spireites’ 2-0 loss to Scunthorpe United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy back in September.

Meanwhile, manager Dean Saunders announced that he will be in talks with the three other out-of-contract players, Jimmy Ryan, Drew Talbot and Armand Gnanduillet, and said that he hopes they will stay for next season.

Saunders said: “They are away at the moment but I plan to speak to them as soon as possible.”
