Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United striker Sammy Ameobi, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Ameobi is available on a free-transfer in the summer, and Wolves have emerged as a serious contender to capture the signature of the 23 year due to the fact that versatile striker wants first-team football, and has more chance of achieving this in the Championship.
The Nigerian forward is able to play as a striker, as well as being able to comfortably play on either flank of the pitch.
Arch-rivals West Bromwich Albion are also keen admirers of the youngster, along with Everton and also Burnley, who have reportedly offered him a contract at the club.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Ameobi has netted twice in twenty-six appearances this season for the Magpies, and has accumulated just 3 yellow cards.
Wolves are in search of a replacement for top goal-scorer Bakary Sako as he is poised to leave the club after they failed to make the play-offs as he wants to play Premier League football.
