Sunderland plotting a move for Wolves stalwart

Dick Advocaat will be planning to add his own type of players to the squad he’s adopted from Gus Poyet and it seems Wolves centre-back Danny Batth is a top priority for Sunderland.

With current centre-backs John O’Shea and Wes Brown, who are 34 and 35 respectively, not getting any younger Advocaat will be looking to add some youth to his defence.

Wes Brown is also out of contract in the summer, while fellow centre-backs Sebastian Coates and Santiago Vergini are only at the Stadium of Light on loan.

24 year-old Batth has been at Wolves since the age of 10, and has progressed up through the youth academy, making his senior debut in 2009 on loan at Colchester United.

An integral part of the back-line which got Wolves so close to a play-off place in the Championship this season, missing out on goal difference, Batth could be eager to ply his trade in the Premier League for the first time.

Being included in the PFA League One Team of the Year for his performances in the 2013-14 season, Batth played a key role in the Wolves squad that won League 1.
