Rochdale and Fleetwood are both fighting it out to try and secure a deal for Jacob Mellis.
The 24-year old is currently a free agent after being released by Blackpool but it looks likely that he will soon find himself another team, with these two League 1 teams both keen on signing him.
Mellis easily had his best spell of football when he played for Barnsley and Rochdale could use that to their advantage when they try to sign him – they are currently managed by Keith Hill, who was the Tykes manager at the time.
For Blackpool, he played just thirteen times last season before being sent on loan to Oldham, where he played a further seven times.
The ex-Chelsea man will be keen on getting more first-team football under his belt next season and both Fleetwood and Rochdale are willing to give it him. The question now is this: which of the two teams will be able to capture his signature?
