The Derby Telegraph is reporting that Burton Albion could sign NAC Breda midfielder Joey Suk and released Derby defender Mark O’Brien.

Suk, 25, has made seven appearances in the Eredivisie this season, with his latest appearance coming against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday. In his two seasons at Breda he has made 24 top flight appearances and managed two goals in that time. He began his career with Go Ahead Eagles, where he managed 113 appearances, scoring 29 and assisting three in all competitions. He then spent a season in Belgium’s top division with Beerschot, where he made 11 appearances and managed one assist.

O’Brien, 22, managed 35 appearances for Derby since making his debut in the 2008/09 season; he would have to wait two more seasons before he got regular game time, in the 2011/12 season he made 20 appearances in the Championship. This would be the high point of what has been an injury ravaged seven years for the defender who has played just 26 league games in the past three seasons. The bulk of those games have come in the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell where he has played 17 times during a disappointing season for all involved.

With fellow Derby defender Tom Naylor also thought to be on The Brewer’s radar, it’s clear that manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is looking to bolster the squad early as the club head into their first ever League One season.
