Bolton Wanderers deny takeover talks

Reports from Northern Ireland over the weekend suggested a multi-million pound consortium, led by businessman, Gerry Carlile, was considering a bid for Wanderers. However, this morning, Wanderers have said to the Bolton Evening News that no such talks have taken place. The statement said: “In response to an article published in The Bolton News on Monday 11 May, 2015, Bolton Wanderers can categorically deny that any talks between the club and a potential Irish consortium have taken place.”The club will be making no further comment.”

Although, Trotters manager, Lennon, has said last week that he thinks there are talks ongoing, but whether it materializes or not, he couldn’t say at that stage.

A media report in Northern Ireland on Sunday quoted a source said to be a colleague of Carlile as saying: “Gerry is not denying it, which has only added to the speculation.”

Wanderers are currently in a massive amount of debt, which is why they were not able to bounce back into the Premier League and are stuck in the Championship. The Trotters were hoping to sign Adam Le Fondre, who was with them on loan, but it seems that the forward would cost too much money.
