Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs Ipswich Town

Blackburn Rovers host Ipswich Town in what could prove to be a pivotal game in the race to make the Championship Play-off places.

Ipswich only need a draw to secure a place in the top 6 while Blackburn have significantly less to play for as they already have 9th place confirmed in whats been a season that did show some promise but has been running out of steam for several months.

Blackburn will be without striker Paul Taylor, who can’t play against parent club Ipswich, while Matt Kilgallon (thigh), Shane Duffy (knee), Jason Lowe (foot), Grant Hanley (calf), Alex Baptiste (hamstring) and Chris Taylor (groin) make up the rather lengthy injury list.

David Dunn is likely to feature from the bench to make his 378th and final Blackburn appearance before he bids farewell to Ewood Park in the summer. Goalkeeper David Raya could make his 2nd league start having signed a new 3 year deal earlier in the week.

Ipswich will be without on loan striker Luke Varney as Blackburn is his parent club. Jay Tabb is expected to return to the squad after illness ruled him out of Ipswich’s 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile Noel Hunt could be in the 18-man squad for the first time since February after a serious knee injury suffered in a 2-1 victory against Fulham. Richard Chaplow however is a doubt with a slight groin injury.
