Robinson Handed New Contract

Paul Robinson has been handed a new one year contract to stay at Blues.

The former West Brom and Bolton defender will be kept on in a player/coach role, but understands his playing time may be limited.

At 36 years old, Robinson will be the most senior member of the playing squad, though his role may be more of a behind the scenes one. Rowett obviously believes his experience could be vital next year, especially if he decides to call on a few of the younger players.

He can be a leader on and off the pitch and his experience at a higher level could be invaluable in coaching the younger players. According to the manager he does a lot off the pitch that we as fans don’t see, so if that’s the case it’s probably a good job he’s staying.

On the pitch, Robinson is still a decent enough player at this level even if he’s not the aggressive, no-nonsense full back he was in his prime, so as cover he is a handy player to have, even if not as a starter.

It’s clear that Robbo loves the game and has some affection for the club, so whatever your thoughts on him as a player it’s important that we back him in this new role.
