Bournemouth’s win is the Cherry on top

In this clash, there was only one team who really wanted to win it – Bournemouth. With Bolton only playing three at the back, you could tell that Eddie Howe used that to his full advantage. In the first few minutes of the game, The Cherries put pressure on Bolton, running down the line, whipping a few balls into the box. Bolton’s keeper, Bogdan, denied Bournemouth a lot with a few great saves. With the Cherries getting plenty of corners and crosses into the box, the keeper dealt with them calmly. However it didn’t stay goalless for long with a cross from Kermorgant straight to Ritchie who slammed the ball across the goal into the top right hand corner with his left foot. As soon as the goal went in the crowd erupted in joy, singing the Match Of The Day theme tune until half time. There was a moment where the fans stopped singing when Ritchie grabbed the second with an accurately placed shot, driven into the bottom left hand corner.

In the second half, Bolton made a couple of substitutions, ex Bournemouth player Feeney was substituted off f or Threlkeld, Mark Davies off for Gudjohnsen. Five minutes after the substitutions Bournemouth was awarded a penalty, Bolton’s Dervite was shown a straight red. Kermorgant took the penalty but blazed it over. However, the penalty miss didn’t really matter as ten minutes later, Wilson got the third goal. He managed to turn the ball around Bolton’s defence and shot straight into the bottom left hand corner. Straight after that goal, Woolery made his debut for Bolton by coming on for Adam Le Fondre. Pitman, for Bournemouth, also came on for Kermorgant. Wilson came close again in the dying embers of the game but it just hit the bar. The game finished 3-0, with Bournemouth not officially promoted, but will have to concede 19 goals next week at The Valley for that to happen.
