The passionate spectator watches the game and the action but misses the little things that knit the game together. They see the misplaced shot that nearly uproots the corner flag, the under hit back pass and the wild sliding tackle that started in a different postcode before booting some unfortunate opposing player four feet into the air. Red card brandished, cue protests, arm-waving on the terraces and cursing back in the pub later that night. Some nights you can’t wait to relive the glory of the game on The Football League Show, other nights you tell the good lady you’re having an early night; for Leeds fans it has been a case lately of more of the latter than the former.
