Charlton Athletic were beaten again yesterday by Wycombe Wanderers.

Charlton Athletic’s poor start to the season goes on as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

The Addicks are only off the bottom of the League One table on goal difference after only one win from their opening seven games in the league.

Their owner, Thomas Sandgaard, reacted on Twitter to yesterday’s defeat to the Chairboys (see tweet below).

Charlton’s chief says they are now in a ‘difficult position’ and that they need to start playing better to start climbing up the league table.

Pressure growing

Sandgaard will have a decision to make on the future of manager Nigel Adkins if the current run of form continues.

Promotion is the aim for the Addicks this season but they are a long way off that at the moment.

They were initially patient with their recruitment over the summer but ended up eventually bringing in 13 players through the door.

It is taking a while for the new signings to all gel together and they are a disjointed unit at the moment.

What now?

Things are not going Charlton’s way right now but their supporters need to stick together and hope Adkins’ experience in the game will see them start to pick up results.

Next up for the London club is a trip to Gillingham on Tuesday.
