West Brom lining up move for Adam Reach

West Brom are ‘weighing up a move’ for free agent midfielder Adam Reach following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer.

Reach, 28, has been recently been linked with a move to West Brom.

Blackburn Rovers are also being linked with the free agent who featured 44 times in the Championship for Sheffield Wednesday last season, scoring five goals as the Owls finished rock-bottom of the second-tier table.

After five seasons at Hillsborough though, Reach and Sheffield Wednesday would part ways and the midfielder has been without a club since – he racked up more than 200 Championship appearances for the Owls, scoring 21 goals.

Now though, a fresh report from Express and Star says that the Baggies are ‘weighing up’ a move for the former Middlesbrough man, with Matt Maher writing that West Brom are ‘likely’ to make ‘multiple additions’ to their squad before the close of the summer transfer window next month.

Dependent on exits

The same report from Express and Star also goes on to report how the amount of West Brom’s potential incomings are dependant on the potential sales of Sam Johnstone and Matheus Pereira.

Both are up for sale this summer – Johnstone was subject to a bid from West Ham recently but the Hammers have now brought in Alphonse Areola on loan from PSG and Maher writes that it now seems unlikely that West Ham will return for Johnstone.

Pereira meanwhile has been linked with a host of Premier League and European clubs. He has a hefty £30million price tag though and for the time being, that seems to be deterring any potential suitors from tabling a bid.

Reach for the sky

Reach proved a contested name at Hillsborough last season. He often put in inconsistent performances but as did the whole side – Wednesday went through a torrid season and Reach like many others who left will be eager for a fresh start.

A move to The Hawthorns would be a hugely exciting one for Reach and given his versatility – his ability to feature in the middle, of the left-hand side or even at full-back with give Baggies boss Valerien Ismael a really useful option going into the new campaign.
