Gunnarsson Looking For Momentum

Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson wants to build momentum for next season despite the managerial rumours currently blighting the club.

City are rumoured to have contacted Portuguese manager Bruno Ribeiro about replacing Russell Slade at the end of the season. Slade has managed only nine wins since replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year.

However, Icelander Gunnarsson still wants to finish as high as possible under Slade and has encouraged his team-mates to not think about their summer holidays to Dubai. The 25-year old former Coventry player has amassed 39 league appearances for the Bluebirds this season and told BBC Sport:

“We have to keep the momentum and finish as high as we can, especially for next season. Hopefully we can build on that for the next season. We want to make a push forward, definitely, next season. If you finish strong, you go in to your summer and pre-season with a positive attitude and hopefully we can do that.”

The Welsh side are fourteenth as it stands in the Championship and drawing nil-nil with Bolton at the Cardiff City Stadium at half-time.
