Race for the Golden Boot; The Championship

3. Cameron Jerome (Norwich): 18 goals

Cam JeromeCameron Jerome signed for Norwich at the start of the 2014/15 Championship season and has repaid a slice of his £1.67m fee paid to Stoke for his services. The return of 18 goals this season is only 5 less than he has achieved over the previous five seasons, his best return being in the 2009/10 season when he notched 11 for Birmingham City. It also equals his season best tally of 18 goals from the 2005/06 season when he was plying his trade with Cardiff in the Championship. With regard to his 18 goals, what inferences can we draw from them and what his final tally might be?

  • 18 goals in 2,465 minutes play (goal per 137 minutes)
  • Over season so far 0.70 goals per 90 minutes
  • Over season so far 38 shots on target (1.4 shots per 90 minutes)
  • Shots on target (SoTa) conversion 46.37%

Looking at the above season returns, it would suggest that Cameron Jerome would likely score: 4.9 more goals (using the ‘goals per 90 minutes’ return) or 4.5 more goals (using the ‘shots per 90’ to SoTa conversion).

Projected end-of-season tally: 23 goals
