Slade: Just Business

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has insisted that Kenwyne Jones’ loan move to Bournemouth was only a business decision.

The Bluebirds are languishing in mid-table mediocrity looking forward to putting a disappointing season behind them. However, they have let Trinidadian forward Jones leave for the South Coast for the rest of the season.

The 13-goal striker has joined Bournemouth’s promotion push as the race for the Premier League heats up. Slade has compared Jones’ departure to Matthew Connolly’s loan move to the Cherries rivals Watford last week. Slade told Wales Online:

“Similar to the Connolly deal. It’s a financial decision really. We are not going up or down at this stage so in financial terms, it made sense for us.”

Eddie Howe’s table-toppers face play-off hopefuls Ipswich on Saturday while fourteenth placed Cardiff travel to Reading.
