AFC Bournemouth prodigy ‘snubs’ contract offer – Arsenal eyeing summer swoop

According to The Sun, Arsenal are eyeing up a move for AFC Bournemouth’s emerging talent Ajani Burchall after he ‘snubbed’ a scholarship deal with the Cherries.

At only 16, Burchall has started to appear in the first-team picture with the Cherries.

The young winger became the club’s third-youngest ever player in December. He came on off the bench as a late substitute in AFC Bournemouth’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Burchall was also involved in their 0-0 draw with Luton Town in December, remaining an unused substitute in an uneventful tie.

Now, reports have emerged claiming Burchall is attracting interest from elsewhere.

According to The Sun, the Cherries starlet has turned down a scholarship deal with the Championship club. Bournemouth could now look to offload Burchall this summer, with Premier League clubs considering a swoop.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are rumoured to be showing an interest in the young winger. ‘Several’ top-flight club are said to be eyeing a potential deal, but it is the Gunners who ‘lead the chase’.

It will be interesting to see how Burchall’s situation pans out in the run-up to the summer transfer window. Given that he is in and around the senior picture, it seems he is highly-rated by those at Bournemouth. It awaits to be seen if they make another offer to the youngster or allow him to seal a move away.

The Cherries will have one eye on transfers heading into the summer. However, their main priorities will be naming a new manager and continuing their efforts to return to the Premier League.

As it stands, Bournemouth sit in 6th place with Jonathan Woodgate still in charge on a caretaker basis following the sacking of Jason Tindall earlier this month.
