Speaking to Luton Today, Luton Town boss Nathan Jones has confirmed defender Tom Lockyer is ‘struggling a little bit’ with an ankle injury, ruling him out of this weekend’s game against Stoke City.
The summer signing has impressed for the Hatters since arriving on a free transfer from Charlton Athletic.
Lockyer has nailed down a spot in Nathan Jones’ starting 11 in recent weeks. The 26-year-old has started the last 15 Championship games for Luton Town, featuring heavily alongside club captain Sonny Bradley.

However, with a clash with Stoke City around the corner, Jones has revealed the Wales international is set for a stint on the sidelines. The former Bristol Rovers star was forced off 30 minutes into Luton’s 2-0 loss to Cardiff City on Tuesday night.
Jones has said Lockyer could be sidelined for a couple of weeks, but the extent of the injury remains unknown as they wait for the swelling to decrease. Speaking to Luton Today, the Hatters boss said:
“Lockyer’s struggling a little bit with his ankle, he went over on it and it came up a little bit so he’s struggling.
“Lockyer could be (out for a couple of weeks), we’re not going to know until the swelling goes down a little bit, but he won’t be eligible for Saturday so that’s one thing.”

In Lockyer’s absence, it will be interesting to see who comes in at centre-back alongside captain Bradley.
Matty Pearson, despite being played at right-back frequently, can also play at centre-back. The experienced Martin Cranie came on for Lockyer at the weekend, so Jones could look to bring him in from the start.
