Campbell-Ryce joins former club on loan

Sheffield United winger, Jamal Campbell-Ryce has joined former club Notts County until the end of the season, according to the Magpies.

Campbell-Ryce made the switch from the Magpies to the Blades in the summer and seemed to be a first team regular, making 32 appearances this season for the Blades. However, he has not been in the best of form recently and Nigel Clough has opted to loan the veteran winger out as players such as Ryan Flynn and Kieron Freeman begin to leave their mark on the right hand side of midfield – Campbell-Ryce’s hunting ground.

County tweeted this afternoon:

JCR as he is more commonly known, is a big favourite of the fans at County, and news of his return was well received. Some fans were even in disbelief of his return. However, Sheffield Star journalist, James Shield, opted for a more tactical way of view of Campbell-Ryce’s departure. He took to Twitter and pointed out:

The 31-year-old made 80 appearances in his time at County. In that time, he contributed 11 goals and 17 assists (Source: TransferMarkt). Whatever the reasons are for JCR’s departure, it is a near certainty that he make a huge impact in a Notts County who languish only 5 points above the relegation zone.
