Sunderland winger Jack Clarke is being linked with a move to Wolves, as per GIVEMESPORT.

Sunderland had a poor season last time around in the Championship.

Jack Clarke was one shining light for the Black Cats in an otherwise pretty dull and unimpressive campaign.

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger joined Sunderland whilst the club were in League One but it wasn’t really until they got to the Championship that he began to shine.

Clarke, 23, scored 15 and assisted four in 40 second tier outings last season. The left winger registered 21 goal contributions in 47 league appearances the year before and has now put in two incredible Championship seasons.

Interest in the winger isn’t new. However, the latest update suggests Wolves are in the race for his signature this summer. They are joined by Crystal Palace who are looking to add to their attacking ranks in this window.

It goes on to say Sunderland are keen to retain Clarke this summer and have set a price tag of around £25-30m on their star.

Who is this?

A good look

In the past Sunderland have been too easy in the transfer window.

They’ve often let players go without putting up too much of a fight, but that does now appear to have changed.

The 23-year-old is destined for top flight football one day soon and after two top Championship campaigns many expected this summer would be the time he made his switch.

However, Sunderland will be holding out on their valuation and it seems they will ensure any sale of Clarke comes with a hefty transfer fee.

Moving forward

Sunderland recently appointed Regis Le Bris as their new head coach and the French boss is tasked with taking the club forward.

The Black Cats finished 16th last season and they must push back up the table towards the top six once again this year.

There is a long way to go and this summer will be a busy one on Wearside, but the expectation is high and patience is quite thin after the year the supporters have had so it’s crucial Le Bris gets off to a good start.

With or without Clarke Sunderland fans will expect improvement on last season. However, losing the attacker will hinder their chances of success and it will be hoped a large amount of the money would be reinvested to replace Clarke and reinforce the rest of the squad.
