Norwich City put £20m price tag on midfielder wanted in Europe

Norwich City have set a £20m asking price on Gabriel Sara amid interest from Serie A club Roma, as per Andre Hernan.

Norwich City had a pretty strong season last time around.

Under David Wagner the Canaries finished inside the top six and achieved a play-off position. However, they failed to make it past the first hurdle losing to Leeds United and former boss Daniel Farke in the semi final.

One man crucial to getting Norwich City into the top six was Sara.

The 25-year-old versatile midfielder played 48 second tier games for the Canaries, scoring 13 and assisting 12.

He registered a much better campaign than the year before where he only managed 11 goal contributions in 40 games.

Naturally, those sorts of numbers have drummed up interest. However, Brazilian reporter Hernan claims whilst it will be difficult for Norwich City to keep Sara amid interest from the likes of Roma, the Canaries won’t be selling for under £20m this summer.

Who is this?

Tough deals

Sara would be a huge player to keep at Carrow Road next season if the club are wanting to once again push for promotion.

However, sometimes these are like fighting a losing battle and if they are to lose the Brazilian then at least they are being firm on their price tag.

The money would then be able to be reinvested into the squad in an attempt to improve on last season’s performances.

A new chapter

The German boss can probably feel a little hard done by, but the club have ultimately decided to go in a different direction.

Johannes Hoff Thorup is the new man at the helm and the exciting young coach will be looking to build on the foundations put in place over the past couple of years.

It will be interesting to see how Norwich City do under the new management and whether they can once again be in contention for a play-off position.
