Fleetwood Town poised to land 24-year-old following relegation

Fleetwood Town are poised to sign Cheltenham Town midfielder Elliot Bonds, according to a report by GloucestershireLive.

Fleetwood Town are set to snap up the 24-year-old on a permanent basis as they prepare for life back in League Two. They slipped out of the third tier last season under former Blackpool man Charlie Adam and will be eyeing an immediate promotion.

Bonds, who is a Guyana international with 17 caps under his belt so far in his career, has been on the books at Cheltenham Town since joining them back in 2021. He still has a year left on his contract with the Gloucestershire outfit but appears to be heading out the exit door for a new challenge now.

As per GloucestershireLive, he has emerged on the radar of the Cod Army as they look to bolster their ranks. A move up north is now on the cards for the Londoner.

Who is this?

Fleetwood Town to land midfielder

Fleetwood Town could see Bonds as someone to add more competition and depth to their midfield department.

He started out with spells at Brentford, Reading and Dagenham and Redbridge before Hull City snapped him up as a youngster in 2019.

The Brent-born man never made a first-team appearance for the Tigers during his two years at the MKM Stadium.

Instead, he was shipped out on loan to Cheltenham Town to get some experience under his belt before they later signed him on a permanent basis.

Bonds has since made 114 appearances for the Robins in all competitions and has chipped in with five goals.

He also had a loan spell away at Kidderminster Harriers in non-league a couple of years ago to build his fitness levels back up after an injury.

Fleetwood Town planning for next season

Fleetwood Town have so far delved into the market to bring in Matty Virtue following his exit from rivals Blackpool.

Bonds is the next player on their radar as they aim to continue their recruitment drive.

Adam has been their manager since December last year and has won six of his 26 matches at the helm.
