Norwich City among Championship admirers of Liverpool midfielder

Norwich City are among the clubs eyeing a loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, DaveOCKOP has said.

Norwich City head into the 2024/25 campaign under the new management of Johannes Hoff Thorup after deciding to part ways with David Wagner at the end of their previous campaign.

After earning a play-off spot and holding Leeds United in a draw in their first-leg, a humbling defeat next time around saw their play-off promotion hopes come crashing down.

The focus now turns to next season though, and the Canaries have already been active on the transfer front. Now, a new player has been linked with a Carrow Road switch.

As per a report from DaveOCKOP, Norwich City are among the admirers of Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark.

The 19-year-old is fielding plenty of loan interest with RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and a number of Championship clubs keen on bringing him in. In this report though, the Canaries are the only second-tier side named.

Derby County were previously said to hold a long-term interest. Clark’s destination remains to be decided though as Arne Slot settles in at Anfield.

Who is this?

Strong competition

Norwich City might be keen on bringing Clark over to Norfolk on a temporary basis but with some high-profile interest in his services from Leipzig and Salzburg, it could be easier said than done getting a deal over the line.

Championship admirers will be hopeful of beating the Canaries too, especially Derby County if their long-term admiration develops into a concrete move this summer.

While Leipzig and Championship offers are attractive, you have to think the interest from Salzburg will be the toughest to fend off. They are now managed by Pep Ljinders, who was Jurgen Klopp’s no.2 at Anfield, so Clark will have already worked with him closely.

If Liverpool decide a domestic move would be best for their young midfielder though, Norwich City should fancy their chances of getting a deal over the line if they firm up their pursuit.

Thorup’s midfield options

New boss Thorup will want to make an impact on his squad over his first window at the helm and the midfield is an area where there could be a bit of a makeover.

Jacob Lungi Sorensen has seen an option triggered so he joins Liam Gibbs and Kenny McLean in being contracted to the Canaries beyond the end of this summer.

The same goes for Gabriel Sara and Marcelino Nunez, but both have attracted interest from other clubs and may well earn a move away from Norwich City ahead of next season.

Exits for both of them would leave the Championship club in serious need of further midfield options. Time will tell just what the summer brings for the highly-rated duo though.
