Hull City ace Ozan Tufan wanted by Turkish side, reporter claims

Trabzonspor have ‘reached an agreement’ to sign Ozan Tufan from Hull City, according to reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X.

Hull City signed the attacking midfielder from Fenerbahce back in 2022 and he still has another year left on his deal with the Championship side, with the club holding an option to extend his stay on top of that by a further 12 months. However, he is now being linked with a return to the Turkish Super Lig.

Tufan, 29, has been an important player for the Tigers over the past couple of seasons. He has scored 18 goals in 81 games in all competitions for the East Yorkshire outfit to date, 10 of which came last term.

In this latest update regarding his situation, journalist Sabuncuoglu has claimed on X that Trabzonspor are trying to snap him up in this transfer window. They came 3rd in the table in the past campaign.

Who is this?

Hull City man wanted elsewhere

Losing Tufan would be a big blow for Hull City. They have already seen loan players such as Liam Delap, Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho return to their parent clubs.

The Turkey international will be on big wages though and cutting ties with him would free up space and funds in their ranks, as well as helping with financial fair play regulations.

The Tigers are gearing up for a new chapter under the guidance of Tim Walter and will be aiming to get into the play-offs.

They missed out by three points in this past season and subsequently sacked Liam Rosenior.

Tufan was in and out of the starting XI but is still a key member of the first-team squad at the MKM Stadium and someone who they should look to keep around.

What next?

Time will tell whether Sabuncuoglu’s X post is true as Hull City look ahead to next term.

They have plenty of time to bring in some new faces but Tufan would leave a void if he departed.

He is a popular player with the fans and has shown his quality since his switch to England.
