Marosi, 30, is on the radar of fellow League One clubs Wrexham, Birmingham City, Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town, according to a report by the Shropshire Star.

He has told the Shrews’ website: “I want to thank the club for bringing me in and letting me be part of its history. I want to thank the managers and all of the staff, not just the football side but behind-the-scenes as well.

“And lastly I want to thank the fans for all the love and support you have shown me over the three years, you guys are amazing.”

Marosi started his career at Wigan Athletic but never made a senior appearance for the North West outfit.

He moved to Doncaster Rovers in 2014 and went on to play 95 games for their first-team in all competitions.

Coventry City then came calling and he was part of their side who won promotion from League One in his first year under Mark Robins.

The former Slovakia youth international made 61 outings for the Sky Blues before Shrewsbury Town snapped him up in 2021.

Marosi has been the Shrews’ number one over the last three years but they have now lost him for nothing which is a blow.

What next?

Wrexham have recently been promoted from League Two and are preparing for life in the third tier.

Meanwhile, both Birmingham City and Rotherham United have slipped out of the Championship, along with Huddersfield Town, and will be eyeing an immediate promotion.

They could all see Marosi as someone to bolster their respective goalkeeping departments and he has now become available.
