Burton Albion lining up move for 21-year-old Shrewsbury Town man

Burton Albion are eyeing a move for Shrewsbury Town man Jason Sraha, as per Pete O’Rourke.

Burton Albion will be hoping for an improved campaign in the 2024/25 season.

Last season saw them narrowly avoid relegation on the final day finishing just two points ahead of the drop zone.

Martin Paterson was soon sacked and has since been replaced with Mark Robinson. The former AFC Wimbledon man held the job for 68 games. He then moved onto Chelsea’s development team and is now back in a first team dugout.

Burton Albion need a lot of work doing to their squad this summer, and it seems they have their eyes set on a fellow League One target.

Sraha, 21, played 17 times for the Salop last season, scoring one goal from defence.

The English-born man can play centre back or left back and began his career in Arsenal’s academy.

Now, O’Rourke claims Burton Albion are lining up a move for the Shrewsbury Town man. But his contract still has another year to go and therefore it would come at a cost to the Brewers.

Who is this?

A chance for more minutes

Burton Albion may be able to offer Sraha more consistent game time than Shrewsbury Town. The youngster featured heavily on Salop’s bench last season and only put in ten full 90’s.

Sraha still has room to grow and he isn’t the finished product yet. However, if given the chance to be exposed to more regular senior football it would only aid his development over the course of next season and beyond.

Avoiding the drop

Burton Albion have to make sure they aren’t dragged into another relegation battle this season.

They recently welcomed new investors into the club which may help their chances of attracting higher calibre players in the transfer window, which is something they have struggled with at times as of late.

Robinson will be keen to hit the ground running next season, but he can’t be expected to work miracles given where the club was at just last month.

Avoiding being dragged into the battle for safety would be considered a success this season as the Brewers look to bring some much-needed stability back to the Pirelli Stadium.

However, whilst Sraha would be a decent addition, there squad is far from complete and with the transfer window officially opening later this week fans will be hoping to see their club more active as time goes on and the season ticks closer.
