Adebayo-Rowling, 27, has spent the past two years on the books at Notts County but wasn’t offered a new contract by the League Two side this summer.

He has told his new club’s website: “Jimmy [McNulty] rang me two days after I was let go by Notts County. Rochdale are a massive club so I thought it’d be silly not to join.

“I knew about the club from when they were in the league. I was buzzing. It’s a big chance for me to learn and play under Jimmy.

“I’m a wing-back who likes to get up and down, contribute with assists and to the defensive side. When I was speaking to Jimmy, he was talking about wanting to play out from the back, and I feel like it suited me right down to the ground.”

The Londoner started his career at Eastbourne Borough and Peterborough United before moving over to Ireland as a youngster with spells at Sligo Rovers and Cork City.

Adebayo-Rowling then came back to England in 2018 and joined Bromley before heading back to Eastbourne for a second stint there.

Ebbsfleet United came calling in 2020 and he spent two years with the Kent club. He caught the eye of Notts County during his spell at Stonebridge Road and they moved to land him under their former manager Luke Williams, who is now at Swansea City in the Championship.

What next for Notts County?

Notts County are gearing up for Stuart Maynard’s first full campaign at the helm and will be in the hunt for some new signings.

Adebayo-Rowling wasn’t the only player released by the Magpies following the end of last term.

They also cut ties with the likes of Aden Baldwin, Richard Brindley, Jim O’Brien, John Bostock and Luther Munakandafa, whilst Luca Ashby-Hammond, Jaden Warner and Charlie Colkett’s loans expired.
