Wycombe Wanderers and Burton Albion have joined Lincoln City in pursuit of Larne striker Lee Bonis, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Wycombe Wanderers could offer a fee in the region of £150,000 to try and lure the attacker over to England. However, they will have to fend off potential competition from fellow League One side Burton Albion for his signature.

Bonis, 24, is also said to be on the radar of Lincoln City, according to a report by the Belfast Telegraph. The Imps are preparing for another year in the third tier under Michael Skubala after missing out on the play-offs in the last campaign.

According to Nixon on his Patreon, both the Chairboys and the Brewers are interested in snapping up Bonis over the next couple of months. He penned a new three-year deal with his current club last year meaning he is under contract until 2026.

Who is this?

Bonis has been prolific for Larne over recent years and has scored 53 goals in 107 games for the NIFL Premiership outfit.

The Northern Irishman, who was called up for his country last year for the first time, started out in non-league with spells at Portadown BBOB and Saegoe.

Portadown then snapped him up as a youngster in 2019 and he went on to spend two years at Shamrock Park before switching to Inver Park.

His goals have helped Larne win the league title two years on the spin, having previously never won it, but they face a battle to keep hold of him.

What next?

Bonis’ future is up in the air right now amid interest from the Football League.

Wycombe Wanderers could see him as someone to bolster their attacking department and help close the gap between them and the top six next term.

As for Burton Albion, they were too close to the drop zone for comfort in this past campaign and have subsequently parted ways with Martin Paterson.

They need more firepower in their ranks and Bonis would be ideal for the Brewers. They would need to see off the Chairboys’ competition though as well as Lincoln City.
