Blackpool-linked target emerges on Dundee United’s radar

Blackpool have been joined by Dundee United in pursuit of Cheltenham Town man Will Ferry, as per a report by The Courier.

Blackpool have been linked with a swoop for the wing-back this summer, as per a report by The Real EFL, but will face competition for his signature. The Seasiders are preparing for another year in League One after missing out on the play-offs last term.

Ferry, 23, is out of contract at Cheltenham Town at the end of next month and is due to become a free agent as things stand. The Robins have offered him a new deal, as detailed on their retained list, but he is yet to sign it.

He will be weighing up his next move in the game and has a big decision to make. In this latest update regarding his situation by The Courier, Dundee United are ‘in the hunt’ to land him following their promotion from the Scottish Championship to the Scottish Premiership.

Ferry could be seen by Neil Critchley as someone to add more competition and depth to his ranks.

He would fit the bill for the Seasiders as he is young, has potential and is due to become available for nothing.

Cheltenham Town signed him in 2022 and he has since become one of their key players. He has made 82 appearances for the Gloucestershire outfit in all competitions to date, chipping in with two goals and eight assists.

He couldn’t prevent the Robins from relegation to League Two this past term though under former Port Vale and Walsall boss Darrell Clarke.

Ferry was on the books at Bury’s academy before joining Southampton. He rose up through the ranks of the Saints and turned professional back in 2017.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international never played for the first-team at St Mary’s though and was loaned out to Crawley Town to get some experience before his permanent Cheltenham Town switch.

Dundee United now eye swoop

Dundee United have become the latest team to be credited with an interest in Ferry.

The Terrors would be able to give him the chance to play in Scotland and potentially Europe down the line.
