Sheffield Wednesday could consider a move for Charlie Goode following his exit from Brentford, according to a report by The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday are in the hunt for some new signings this summer as they prepare for another year in the Championship following their survival last season. They have been given a big boost following Danny Rohl’s decision to stay put and sign a new contract.

Goode, 28, has been released by Brentford and will have a big decision to make as a free agent this summer as to where to go next. He spent the second-half of the last campaign on loan at Wigan Athletic in League One and went on to make 13 appearances in all competitions.

The Star claim he may emerge as an option for the Owls as they search for additions ahead of next term. He officially sees his deal with the Bees expire at the end of June.

Who is this?

Sheffield Wednesday could see Goode as someone to add more competition and depth to their defensive department.

The fact he is available for nothing means they won’t have to fork out a transfer fee to lure him to South Yorkshire.

He recently took to X to have his say on his exit from Brentford and said: “Sometimes things just don’t work out for many reasons, a tough few years since I arrived. I’m feeling better than ever, and ready for the next chapter! Wish you all the best for the future.”

Goode was given the green light to link up with Wigan Athletic in January to get some game time under his belt before heading back to the Gtech Community Stadium in mid-April due to injury.

He signed for Northampton Town in 2019 from Scunthorpe United and went on to play 45 games for the Cobblers in League Two before earning a move to the Bees.

The Watford has been on the books of the London outfrit for the last four years and was part of their squad promotion to the Premier League back in 2021.

However, he has only managed to feature for the London outfit on 20 occasions and has also been loaned out to Sheffield United and Blackpool.

Sheffield Wednesday latest

Sheffield Wednesday need to ensure that they get their recruitment right over the next couple of months.

They will want to avoid another year of struggle in the second tier and Goode would give them another option to pick from at the back if they were to bring him to Hillsborough.
