Norwich City have held talks with Will Still over the vacant managerial post at Carrow Road, as per Chris Reeve.

Norwich City are on the hunt for a new boss after taking the decision to part ways with David Wagner.

The manager had worked well to get the Canaries into a play-off spot but after drawing 0-0 in the first leg of their Leeds United tie, they were thrashed 4-0 at Carrow Road as their promotion dreams came crashing down.

As such, the decision was made to sack Wagner, and a new boss hunt has ensued.

Now, an exciting update regarding highly-rated manager Will Still has emerged.

Writing on X, Talk Norwich City and BBC Norfolk co-host Chris Reeve has said that talks have taken place between 31-year-old Still and Norwich City. The former Stade Reims boss has also visited the club’s training ground this week.

These claims were echoed by the Pink Un, with the Canaries seemingly looking to close the net on a top young manager to replace Wagner this summer.

Who is this?

What has Still said?

Amid links with the also vacant Sunderland job, Still has said before that he would be open to taking up a job in the Championship. A Premier League move is his ultimate goal, but an ambitious second-tier side may tickle his fancy.

He previously said:

“But if there’s a Championship club that’s ambitious, that wants to work in the right way and be open and honest about things, and really try and push to get somewhere, then I would love to do that.”

These talks with Norwich City suggest the club could be moving closer to what would be a fantastic appointment. He’s out of work after leaving Stade Reims too, so he could be a cheap yet eye-catching replacement for Wagner.

A statement appointment

Bringing in a manager as highly rated as Still would be a real statement of intent from Norwich City.

It’s the first appointment that sporting director Ben Knapper will make, so he’ll be keen to send a message to both fans and the Canaries’ Championship rivals. A move for Still would do just that, though time will tell if the talks come to anything.

Still is sure to have plenty of options as he embarks on a new challenge after his Reims breakthrough. He’ll be wary of making sure the next job is the right one for him.

Norwich City are sure to be keeping their options open, but these fresh Still claims are reason for fans to be excited.
