Leeds United are among the sides interested in right-back Marius Wolf as he prepares to leave Borussia Dortmund, as per German reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Leeds United are yet to decide which league they’ll be in next season but those behind the scenes at Elland Road will be making recruitment plans regardless.

The Whites’ fate will be sealed this weekend as they travel down to Wembley to face Southampton in a fight for the third Premier League promotion spot.

However, transfer speculation rumbles on regardless, and news of a potential target has emerged.

Writing on X, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has stated that Leeds United are interested in Borussia Dortmund man Marius Wolf as a potential signing should they rise to the Premier League.

Wolf, a 28-year-old right-back, will be leaving Dortmund this summer and the Whites have lodged an enquiry. They’re not the only ones keen though, with unnamed teams from Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia also eyeing the German.

A key area

Regardless of how the season ends for Leeds United, they’ll know right-back is an area they need to bolster. As such, Wolf could be a good option for them.

His deal is winding down and his vast experience and pedigree could be of great value at Elland Road. Wolf has worked his way through the lower leagues of German football right to the very top, earning five caps for his national team while playing 121 times for Dortmund.

Who is this?

Wolf has played 175 Bundesliga games overall, with his return of 12 goals and 21 assists highlighting the attacking intent he offers.

He’s comfortable as a wing-back or even further forward as a winger too, so he’d bring some versatility and flexibility to Farke’s Leeds United ranks.

A decisive weekend

While potential targets are being lined up, the full focus of Farke, his coaching team and the players at Elland Road will be on this weekend’s winner-takes-all play-off final against Southampton.

Having come up short in the fight for automatic promotion, Leeds United will be determined not to miss out on a place in the Premier League.

They reminded everyone just what they’re capable of with that rampant win over Norwich City in the second leg of their play-off semi-final and will be keen to carry that form with them to Wembley this weekend.

Opponents Southampton are in a similar position though having dispatched of West Brom comfortably on home turf after a tense first tie ended level too.

Time will tell just what this weekend brings, but the outcome will be sure to have a big impact on their recruitment plans for the transfer window. Should Leeds United emerge victorious, Wolf looks to be one on the shopping list.
