League Two club lodge offer to departing Lincoln City attacker

Doncaster Rovers have offered Hakeeb Adelakun a contract following his exit from Lincoln City, as per a report by the Doncaster Free Press.

Doncaster Rovers are keen to land the winger on a permanent basis this summer as they look to mount another promotion push from League Two next season. They have recently lost at the semi-final stage of the play-offs against Crewe Alexandra.

Adelakun, 27, spent the second-half of this past term with Grant McCann’s side and helped them reach the top seven. He scored nine goals in 21 games in all competitions for the Yorkshire side and caught the eye.

As per the Doncaster Free Press, Rovers have lodged an offer to him as they look to snap him up permanently. Lincoln City have decided not to extend his deal following the end of their most recent League One campaign and he will be weighing up his next move in the game.

Who is this?

Doncaster Rovers make offer

Landing Adelakun would be a great bit of business by Doncaster Rovers if they were able to get him.

He is a proven performer at fourth tier level and should arguably be playing in the league above.

The Londoner joined Lincoln City back in 2021 and went on to play 57 matches for them, chipping in with seven goals. He was loaned out to Gillingham last year before he was given the green light to join Rovers this past winter.

Adelakun started out at Crystal Palace and West Ham as a youngster before joining Scunthorpe United.

He then signed for Bristol City in 2018 and spent three years on the books of the Robins, some of which he spent out on loan at Rotherham United and Hull City to get some minutes, before he was snapped up by the Imps.

The attacker now has a big decision to make on his future and will be considering his options.

Lincoln City exit provides opportunity for Doncaster Rovers

Lincoln City missed out on the play-offs in the end but will be optimistic about the future under former Leeds United coach Michael Skubala.

Adelakun’s exit from the LNER Stadium will free up space and funds in the Imps’ squad to bring in other reinforcements over the coming months.

His exit provides Doncaster Rovers with an ideal opportunity to get their man now as they prepare for next season.

They won 11 games on the spin before their defeat to Crewe Alexandra and will want to find that type of form again next time around.
