League One side poised to land attacker after Luton Town and Gillingham trials

Peterborough United are set to sign Welling United attacker David Kamara this summer, reports Alan Nixon.

Peterborough United are poised to land the forward ahead of next season as they prepare for another year in League One. The Posh have identified him as someone to bolster their attacking department as they look to go for promotion again.

Kamara, 17, had a trial at Luton Town back in November last year according to a report by The Sun. League Two outfit Gillingham then cast their eyes over him in February, as reported by KentOnline, but nothing materialised on either front in the end.

In this latest update regarding the player’s situation, journalist Nixon has claimed on his Patreon page that the Posh are now ready to snap him up. They are no strangers to snaring talent from non-league and it is an avenue that they have gone down on various occasions over recent times.

Peterborough United could see Kamara as one for the future and someone who could break into their first-team down the line.

He has risen up through Welling’s youth ranks and has broken into their senior team in this past campaign.

The forward has made 11 appearances in the National League South so far and has chipped in with two goals. However, his current side face a real battle to keep him now amid Football League attention.

Darren Ferguson’s men have fallen at the semi-final stage of the Play-Offs once again this year. They lost to Oxford United last week and now have to pick up the pieces and go again next time around.

They could lose some key players in the upcoming window and it is likely to be a summer of transition at London Road.

Kamara coming through the door could be the first of a few new faces, with both incomings and outgoings expected.

As for Luton Town, they have been relegated from the Premier League after just a year at the top level. It has been a tough past 12 months for the Hatters and they will be ready to push for an immediate promotion under Rob Edwards.

It is yet to be known whether they have been keeping tabs on Kamara since his trial spell or whether they have moved on. The same applies to Gillingham, who have recently turned to former Cambridge United manager Mark Bonner to replace Stephen Clemence.

Peterborough United’s future

Peterborough United are a well run club and are known for developing talent. They would be a good destination for Kamara as he looks to make a name for himself.

The Posh finished 4th in the League One table and were eight points shy of the top two in the end.
