West Brom, Sunderland winter target’s future at Premier League club remains up in the air

West Brom and Sunderland were both interested in Divin Mubama in the winter, and his future at West Ham remains up in the air.

West Brom and Sunderland will be in the market for fresh additions when the summer transfer window comes around and those behind the scenes at both clubs will already have eyes on potential signings.

Both Championship sides did business in January, but one rumoured target of both the Baggies and Black Cats who didn’t make a move was West Ham striker Mubama.

The 19-year-old was on the radars of West Brom, Sunderland and Everton amid doubts over his future.

And, with the summer transfer window approaching, there’s still no clarity of what the summer holds.

Divin Mubama’s contract situation

Mubama sees his contract with West Ham expire at the end of this season. There have been reports regarding talks of a possible extension over the 2023/24 campaign but they have had no fruit to bear at this stage.

Amid this, the attacking talent has not featured for the Hammers since January, missing out on the regular senior opportunities he desires.

Things have gone quite on the contract front for Mubama, and that will pique interests ahead of the summer.

Revived West Brom and Sunderland interest?

Only time with tell if either West Brom or Sunderland go back in for Mubama this summer but as his contract winds down you have to think that plenty of clubs will be keeping tabs on his situation.

Many of those will likely be in the EFL and the second-tier pair may well be among them.

The Baggies are yet to determine what league they’ll be playing in as they look set to fight it out in the Championship play-offs. Decisions over potential recruits may well have to wait until that is decided.

The Black Cats meanwhile will be playing Championship football again next season, and given their transfer philosophy of signing young players and need for a striker, Mubama may well end up back on their radar.

As it stands, Mubama will be on the move for nothing this summer, but the final outcome of his contract saga and his potential destination remains to be decided.
