Leeds United dealt injury blow as they prepare for QPR away trip

Leeds United will be without Dan James for their trip to QPR, as confirmed by their official club website.

Leeds United head to London on Friday night as they look to boost their Championship promotion push.

James, 26, suffered a costal cartilage injury and an oblique abdominal muscle tear in their 4-3 win against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium last time out.

The Whites’ have confirmed he will be sidelined for their upcoming fixture against the Hoops.

James’ absence is a blow for Leeds United and they will have to make do without the Wales international as they look to build on their victory over Boro.

Daniel Farke’s side need to get their job done against QPR and then hope Ipswich Town drop points on Saturday night as they prepare to face Hull City at the MKM Stadium.

James has has been a key player for the Whites in this campaign following their relegation from the Premier League last year.

He has made 43 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with 13 goals and seven assists.

The pacey forward moved to Elland Road back in 2021 and had a loan spell away at Fulham last term.

James started out at Hull City before switching to Swansea City as a youngster. He then broke into the Swans’ first-team as a youngster before he was lured away by Manchester United in 2019.

The pressure is on Leeds United to go and win at QPR but they will be in confident mood after seeing off Middlesbrough.

Their opponents aren’t mathematically safe yet and will be keen to pick up three points to secure their place in the second tier once again.

Farke’s men then face Southampton at home on the final day and take on a Saints side who have missed out on the top two but will be in the play-offs.
