‘Always watching’ – Hull City chief shares transfer update ahead of the summer

Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler has said the club’s hierarchy are ‘always’ keeping track of the Turkish market.

Hull City may look to bring in more players from the Super Lig this summer in preparation for next season.

The Tigers are currently sat in 7th place in the Championship table but are six points off the play-offs.

Kesler has shared this recruitment update in an interview with Asist Analiz (via Sport Witness): “A part of our squad is such talented players. But we want to give an opportunity to the children of our own country here too. Even though our game philosophy is Uyan, we focus a lot on player’s profiled from Turkey that will serve our success and take us one step further.

“As you know, Doğukan (Sinik) is here, Ozan (Tufan) is with us, Abdülkadir (Omur), one of the leaders of the team for a long time has just joined but adapted very well. We went through both Turkish and foreign players who played in the Turkish Super Lig. Turkey is with us, Turkey is our audience. We are always watching Turkey and following it.”

Hull City transfer plans

Hull were taken over by Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali back in January 2022 and they have signed a few players the top flight in his homeland that haven’t worked out since then such as Benjamin Tetteh, Dimitrios Pelkas and Dogukan Sinik.

The latter remains on the books at the MKM Stadium but has been loaned out to Antalyaspor and Hatayspor over recent times to get some game time.

Ozan Tufan has been an impressive player for the Tigers since joining in 2022 from Fenerbahce. The ex-Watford loan has become a fans favourite in East Yorkshire.

He has made 77 appearances in all competitions for the club to date and has scored 17 goals, nine of which have come in this campaign.

Liam Rosenior’s side managed to snap up attacking player Abdush Omur from Trabzonspor this past winter and the 24-year-old, who is a Turkey international, has adapted well to life in England.

He is yet to score but has enjoyed plenty of minutes over recent weeks and is poised to play a big part next season.

Hull remain in with an outside shot of making the top six but need favours from elsewhere against West Brom and Norwich City.

The Tigers won 3-0 at home to QPR last time out after goals by Tufan, Fabio Carvalho and Jaden Philogene and are unbeaten in their last three outings.

They are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Watford as they look to keep the heat on the teams above them.
