Morecambe boss emerges on radar of League Two rivals

Morecambe boss Ged Brannan is wanted by Accrington Stanley, according to a report by The Sun.

Morecambe’s manager is being eyed by their fellow League Two club ahead of next season and has worked as a coach there before.

Brannan, 52, took over at the Mazuma Stadium in November last year but his future is up in the air at the moment.

According to The Sun, Accrington’s John Doolan is interested in luring him to the Wham Stadium as his number two.

Morecambe are currently sat in 15th place in the table and they have nothing to play for in their remaining two fixtures.

They were relegated from League One last year and lost Derek Adams to Ross County earlier in this campaign.

Brannan was brought late last year and has since won 10 of his 29 matches in charge of the North West outfit.

The Liverpudlian spent his playing career as a midfielder for the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Manchester City and Wigan Athletic, as well as both Morecambe and Accrington.

The latter could try and lure him away in the near future and they find themselves in 18th position.

Stanley parted company with long-serving John Coleman in early March and subsequently handed the role to Doolan.

Brannan would have a decision to make if Accrington came calling for him. He is the number one at Morecambe right now but it be worth sacrificing his position to become an assistant?

The Shrimps lost 2-0 away at Stockport County over the weekend in a result that got their opponents promoted to the third tier.

They have now lost their last three on the spin and have two more games left to get through against Forest Green Rovers and Swindon Town.
