Ipswich Town and Celtic keeping tabs on QPR star

QPR star Jake Clarke-Salter is drawing interest from a host of clubs with Ipswich Town and Celtic among those keen, according to The Sun.

QPR have seen Clarke-Salter stay injury-free this season and he’s been able to catch the eye in his regular outings. The Sun states Ipswich Town and Celtic are just two of those keen with Premier League trio Wolves, Crystal Palace and Burnley also keeping tabs.

26-year-old Clarke-Salter has played 29 times in the Championship this season, scoring once.

When fit he’s been a nailed-on starter under Marti Cifuentes, forming a strong partnership with veteran Steve Cook at the heart of the backline. His performances may well earn him a high profile move in the summer, with clubs considering him as a possible target.

Two years remain on his QPR deal but Clarke-Salter is being eyed nonetheless, with Ipswich Town and Celtic monitoring him displays in recent weeks.

Who is this?

One to hold onto

Clarke-Salter has had his injury problems with QPR but this season, he’s been available for selection far more often than not. That has been a huge boost for the player, allowing him to really find momentum in terms of his form while building a good partnership with Cook too.

It’s been of great value for the Rs too. Having the former Chelsea man available and at his best has been key in the bid to rise up the Championship table.

Understandably though, that has drawn interest. Clarke-Salter was long viewed as a top talent and had previously enjoyed successful Championship loans, but kicking on in a permanent stay with QPR may well have paved the way for him to really maximise his potential.

Time will tell if anything comes of the interest from Ipswich Town, Celtic and the Premier League clubs, but the West Londoners will be hopeful of retaining Clarke-Salter’s services after an impressive campaign.
