‘Hopefully’ – West Brom boss Carlos Corberan shares injury update regarding 27-year-old ahead of Stoke City trip

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has said Cedric Kipre will ‘hopefully’ be back for this weekend.

West Brom return to Championship action with an away trip to Stoke City.

Kipre, 27, missed their most recent match against Watford with a shoulder injury he picked up at Millwall. His side went on to draw 2-2 with the Hornets.

Corberan has provided this update on his situation, as per a report by BirminghamLive: “I think he needs to be ready to train with the team. Hopefully he is ready and is available [for Saturday] but always it’s important to have our full squad ready for my selection.”

Getting Kipre back would be a big boost for West Brom ahead of their game against Stoke.

The Paris-born man has had a new lease of life at the Hawthorns under Corberan in this campaign.

He has been a key player for the Midlands outfit at the heart of the backline and has made 40 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with two goals.

The former Ivory Coast youth international is out of contract at the end of this term and is due to become a free agent in late June as things stand. The Baggies have a big decision to make regarding his long-term future.

Kipre joined West Brom back in 2020 and he initially struggled to make an impact. He was loaned out to Charleroi and Cardiff City to get some game time.

The former PSG, Leicester City, Motherwell and Wigan Athletic man returned to his current club last summer and has turned his fortunes around.

Corberan’s men are in good form right now as they look to cement their place in the play-offs. They are sat in 5th and showed great character to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Watford yesterday.

Stoke are in a relegation battle and could be tricky opponents. However, the Baggies will be confident, especially with Kipre potentially being back available.
