3 players who could exit if Huddersfield Town are relegated to League One

Huddersfield Town have just six games to save their season, currently sat in the relegation zone as we enter the business end of the campaign.

Huddersfield Town have just six games to save their season as they sit in the relegation zone and under serious threat of a drop to League One.

Huddersfield Town occupy 22nd spot in the table having so far failed to recover from their poor start to the Championship season. Darren Moore struggled after taking over from Neil Warnock and was ultimately sacked, paving the way for Andre Breitenreiter’s appointment.

The Terriers are just one point behind Plymouth Argyle who sit 21st, so safety is very much still an achievable goal. However, there are a number of players in Breitenreiter’s squad who could head for the exit doors this summer should the club drop down to League One.

Here, we take a look at three players who could move on from Huddersfield Town if they are relegated this season…

Jack Rudoni

Signed from AFC Wimbledon two seasons ago, Rudoni has gone from strength to strength with the Terriers and has churned out some top performances for the struggling side this campaign.

The 22-year-old midfielder has five goals and two assists in the second tier, contributing well both offensive and defensively. His contract is valid until 2026 with the option of a further year, so Huddersfield Town would likely demand a sizeable fee for his services, but the youngster may make a move if the opportunity arises for him to stay playing at a higher level.

Sorba Thomas

Wales international Thomas is another who is under contract until 2026, though the winger’s form this season may have put him in the shop window should League One beckon for the Terriers.

The 25-year-old has four goals and nine assists to his name so far this season and could prove a valuable coup for a host of Championship sides. With a possible World Cup campaign for Wales coming up in two years’ time, he is bound to be wanting to play at the highest level possible during the build-up.

Who is this?

Michal Helik

Goalscoring centre-back Helik has been brilliant for Huddersfield Town this season, contributing with nine goals towards their battle for safety.

The 28-year-old centre-back could see his contract run out next summer, although the club do have the option of an extra year. He is in a similar situation to Thomas as the Poland international will likely need to play above the third tier to be a part of the squad if they make it to the World Cup.

It would be a surprise if he did not have potential suitors sniffing around regardless of what division the Terriers find themselves in next season.
