3 players who could exit if Grimsby Town are relegated to the National League

Grimsby Town have just six games to ensure their safety, currently just four points above the relegation zone as we enter the final month of the campaign.

Grimsby Town have just six games to ensure their safety with just two points separating them and the relegation zone as we enter the final month of the campaign.

Grimsby Town occupy 21st spot in the table at present having endured a poor League Two campaign. David Artell’s side simply have to pick up points if they are to avoid a return to the National League.

The Mariners have a number of squad members who could be poached if they suffer relegation, with some more likely than others to head for the exit doors this summer should the club find themselves in the National League.

Here, we take a look at three players who could move on from Grimsby Town if they are relegated this season…

Toby Mullarkey

Right-back Mullarkey has been a consistent performer for Grimsby this season, starting 34 of the 35 fourth tier matches he has featured in.

The 28-year-old has scored one goal and registered three assists in a struggling side whilst proving to be a solid defensive presence at the back too. He is under contract until 2025, though the Mariners might cash in if non-league beckons again.

Abo Eisa

A standout player for Artell’s men, Eisa has scored nine goals and registered four assists this campaign from the left flank.

The Sudan international sees his current deal expire this summer, so a move away could be on the cards regardless of if Grimsby Town achieve safety or not. If they do go down, however, it seems unlikely that he would stick around.

Who is this?

Harvey Rodgers

Rodgers has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season and his influence will have proved key if they do stay up.

Grimsby conceded five goals the last time he did not feature and six goals the time before that, proving his importance. The 27-year-old centre-back is under contract until 2026, although there are bound to be potential suitors for his signature if relegation strikes.
