Sheffield Wednesday poised to cut ties with attacker this summer, report claims

Sheffield Wednesday are not expected to hand attacker Luke Cook a contract extension, as detailed in a report by The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday signed the forward back in 2022 and his deal expires at the end of this season.

Cook, 21, was snapped up by the Championship side after a successful trial spell.

However, in this latest update regarding his situation at Hillsborough by The Star, he is expected to move on this summer. Defender Adam Alimi-Adetoro is also poised to depart on a free transfer.

Sheffield Wednesday attacker expected to leave

Cook hasn’t managed to break into Sheffield Wednesday’s first-team and a departure probably suits all parties involved.

He played in non-league for Enfield Town and Merstham before making the move up north to South Yorkshire when the Owls snapped him up.

Cook made his first and only senior appearance to date for his current club in a League Cup clash against Sunderland a couple of years ago.

He has since been used in their Under-21’s side but his time with the second tier outfit appears to be coming to an end soon.

Sheffield Wednesday are said to hold an option to keep hold of him for a further 12 months but that clause is unlikely to be activated, regardless of what league they find themselves in.

Danny Rohl’s men remain the relegation zone along with Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United as they look to avoid an immediate return to League One.

They drew 1-1 at home to Swansea City last time out and are now winless in their last three outings.

The Owls are back in action this afternoon with an away trip to the Riverside Stadium to take on Middlesbrough as they look to return to winning ways.
