Crystal Palace expected to send EFL loan man to another team next season

Colchester United loan goalkeeper Owen Goodman is expected to be sent to a League One club by Crystal Palace this summer, reports Alan Nixon.

Colchester United lured the stopper to League Two last summer and he has since had plenty of game time.

Goodman, 20, has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Essex side in this campaign, 35 of which have come in the league.

According to reporter Nixon on his Patreon page, his parent club plan to loan him out again next season to a team in the league above.

Colchester United man to be loaned again

This term has been a steep learning curve for Goodman at Colchester.

They are battling relegation and he has only managed to keep four clean sheets so far.

However, he will have still benefitted from regular regular senior football under his belt and it will have boosted his development.

Goodman has been on the books at Crystal Palace for his whole career to date and has risen up through the academy ranks at Selhurst Park.

He has been a regular for the Eagles at various youth levels over recent years and was handed his first professional contract back in July 2021 when he was just 17.

The England youth international, who has also represented Canada in the past, is yet to play for the London club’s first-team but was on the bench under Roy Hodgson a couple of times last year.

Another temporary exit would help him build on his experience at Colchester and test himself at a higher level.

Colchester are sat in 22nd place and are a point above the drop zone with Sutton United chasing them down.

Danny Cowley’s men won 2-1 at home to Newport County last time out and face Tranmere Rovers away today.
