‘Too much firepower’ – Leeds United vs Hull City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Leeds United vs Hull City prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Monday.

Leeds United sit 2nd in the table heading into their upcoming clash. The Whites drew 2-2 away at Watford last time out.

Daniel Farke’s side are a point behind Ipswich Town at the summit. They are a point above Leicester City in 3rd but the Foxes have a game in hand.

As for Hull City, they lost 2-0 at home to Stoke City in their last Championship outing on Friday. The Tigers have slipped down to 9th in the table.

They are six points off the play-offs with eight fixtures to left to play this season. Liam Rosenior’s side have played one match less than Norwich City in 6th though.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Leeds United are carrying some serious momentum and haven’t lost yet in 2024. They are also unbeaten at home this season.

“They will be confident that they can beat Hull City and they should have too much firepower for the Tigers, who are without key defender Jacob Greaves.

It is worth noting that Liam Rosenior’s side have won away at Leicester City and Southampton in this campaign, and also drew 0-0 with the Whites back in September.

Hull tend to play better away from home and against better teams. They have dangerous players like Jaden Philogene and Fabio Carvalho but don’t really have anything up front. I think they might just fall short at Elland Road here.”

Who is this?

Jacob Hackett

“Leeds must feel more confident now than ever of making an instant return to the top flight given Leicester City’s drop-off in form.

“Farke’s men are unbeaten since their FA Cup defeat at the hands of Chelsea, and despite dropping points in their last outing, look good value for money to achieve automatic promotion.

“They face a Hull outfit who are without a win in their last five having dropped out of the play-off spots, and they will feel confident that they can take advantage of the Tigers’ poor run and claim a result.

“I think this will be a pretty routine victory for the hosts.”
