‘Confident mood’ – West Brom vs Watford prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their West Brom vs Watford prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Monday.

West Brom are currently sat in 5th place in the Championship. They are eyeing promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Baggies drew 1-1 away at Millwall last time out. John Swift scored for them from the penalty spot at The Den.

As for Watford, they held Leeds United to a 2-2 draw on Good Friday. Tom Cleverley has picked up four points from his first two games at the helm.

The Hornets are 14th in the table after their latest result. They have seven more fixtures to play this season.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

West Brom are unbeaten in their last seven games and showing good consistency under Carlos Corberan. They look well on their way to securing a place in the top six.

The Baggies are proving to be a tough nut to crack and will fancy their chances of picking up three points on their own patch.

However, Watford won’t be easy opponents. They will be in confident mood after their win at Birmingham City before the international break and then their draw with Leeds United.

I think the Hornets will cause problems at the Hawthorns and may just be able to sneak another draw.”

Who is this?

Jacob Hackett

“Although they might have hoped for more from their last outing, West Brom are in a fine vein of form having not lost during their last seven matches. The Baggies are poised to claim a play-off spot and will feel confident ahead of Watford’s visit.

“Cleverley is unbeaten at the helm in his two games so far, and the Hornets certainly look a brighter outfit since his appointment, but the Hawthorns is certainly not an easy place to poach a result this season.

“Corberan’s side will be looking for a response following the points they dropped on Friday, with a win crucial if they are to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

“I think West Brom take the spoils on this occasion, although I am expecting a close-fought encounter.”
